Welcome to our first Edition of

Our Namibian PINK Community Program E-Newsletter!

Why PINK Community? We aim it PINK because Namibia has a variety of rainbow colors and we are all one human kind!

To be a gay man or a lesbian woman in Namibia is not always the easiest of situations. Before 2005, the Namibian constitution declared homosexuality illegal; but now it is no longer illegal so gay and lesbian people can live openly in Namibia.

Our aim is to help and support the PINK community in Namibia. Often people are not even aware there are already institutions here in Namibia for legal assistance & support!

During the last month there have been some Gay gatherings in Windhoek & Swakopmund as well as in other small townships. This is an exciting new development for our community and we can see that people are very interested to join in with these social Get-togethers! Guys & Girls keep it up like that!

Now is it about time to connect all communities and bring them together in order to illustrate that we are a growing community in Namibia!

We have many work-outs planned for our future in Namibia and together with you we can make things happen!

Now it is up to you! Are you proud to be PINK in Namibia?

Let us introduce ourselves to get to know each other!

ABOUT NAMIBIA JJ TOURS:

Namibia JJ Tours is established recently in March 2009. “JJ” stands for Joe & Jaco, the owners of the company.

When Joe and Jaco first met they made a conscious decision to celebrate their partnership and live an honest, openly gay relationship in Namibia!

We wanted to create the first PINK Travel agency in Namibia that caters to the Local & International Lesbian & Gay Community. Between us we have many years of experience in the Tourism Industry in Namibia. We are passionate about Namibia, in particular the people of Namibia. Namibia JJ Tours is not just about providing a travel agency for the local Namibian and International Gay and Lesbian communities. ABOUT SISTER NAMIBIA:

Sister’s vision is:

For a society that recognizes, protects and celebrates the full personhood of all women and girls including respect for our dignity, diversity, sexual choices and bodily integrity.

“Celebrating 20 years of feminist activism” these amazing women went against everything they were brought up to believe and made stand for the first time in June 1989 with the first edition of Sister Namibia.

Today, 20 years later they are still keeping to what they started only bigger and better. Fire blazing and conquering whatever they put their minds to. From being a small trickling steam they have become a raging river with a network of streams to every remote part of the country.

“A catalyst for change” for a recently disadvantaged group breaking through boundaries and calling a spay a spay. They not just only paved the road for women in Namibia, Sister Namibia have touched and changed life’s abroad with provocative writings and allowed a many women to recognize themselves and use their voice, achieving more than was expected.

Not only is Sister Namibia a feminist organization but they have workshops about HIV/Aids, providing a broader awareness for children about HIV/Aids and petitioning for human rights for women abroad.

Sister Namibia is providing a monthly magazine with all information’s of their projects!
