HISTORY AND CONCEPT
In 2008, Mr. Gay World was formed with the goal of uniting the LGBTI community all over the world in a strong common cause. To this end, Mr. Gay World seeks to fight discrimination and stigma within the gay community, empowers and raises the visibility of optimistic gay men as well as breaks barriers created by discriminatory individuals and groups. Collectively, the countries represented in the Mr. Gay World organization work to promote a positive image of the gay community all over the globe.

Now, in 2011, Mr. Gay Namibia has arrived. Mr. Gay Namibia is a registered non-profit organization that focuses on LGBTI rights in Namibia by holding an annual nationwide contest to elect a positive spokesperson in order to represent the Namibian LGBTI community both at home and abroad. In this capacity, Mr. Gay Namibia will serve as a visible role model for the gay community, and engage in community activities with the purpose of advancing an inclusive human rights agenda in Namibia.

MISSION
The mission of the Mr. Gay Namibia organization is to create a positive image of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and to promote a Namibian society where all people are accepted as human beings with equal importance.

VISION
By attending a wide variety of social and welfare functions in Namibia, Mr. Gay Namibia will serve as an Ambassador of the LGBTI community, and be a visible spokesperson and community leader. Mr. Gay Namibia will work with LGBTI organizations together on a global level to create awareness of LGBTI and broader human rights issues throughout the country, and promote an agenda of tolerance and acceptance.

ENVISAGED IMPACT:
• Decreased levels of homophobia in Namibia.
• Acceptance of LGBTI rights as part of a human rights agenda
• Serving as a catalyst for social change.
• Advances in an inclusive human rights agenda in Namibia.
